Swoon Class

Swoon Class

Instructor: Cynthy Kram

Date: Saturday July 13

Time: 10:30am-2:30pm

Fabric requirements:

18 fat quarters, (if not using fat quarters you will need 11” x 42” to cut all of the pieces)

4 ¼ yards background

I add extra borders on the sample to make it a rectangle, by using the leftovers from each of the blocks for the pinwheels. You will need an extra yard of background for the borders.

Pattern: Swoon by Thimble Blossoms

Sewing Machine in good working condition, bring your ¼” foot

Basic sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, pins, etc)

Rotary cutter (45mm is best) and ruler, a 6” or 6 ½” square with a diagonal line corner to corner will be need to square up half-square triangle blocks.

Fabric marking pencil, I like the sewline wash away pencils

Quick Quarter ruler (optional).

Pre-cutting directions:

You will need 2 fat quarters for each quilt block, pair up the fat quarters first before cutting them out. In the pattern there are diagrams for the best way to cut your fat quarters. I changed the 3 7/8” squares to 4” for the half square triangles. It will make cutting from the fat quarter tight but I found that squaring them up after making the half-square triangles will make them the correct size.

When cutting the background fabric per the pattern change the 3 7/8” strips to 4” for the half square triangles.

Bring all remaining fabrics to class.

You may arrive as early as 30 minutes before class to get set up and ready to begin.

Please park in the “free parking” lot at the end of downtown on the right.  You may pull up in front of studio to unload, then move vehicle to lot.
