Fabric requirements: 

5 fat quarters for the star

1 fat quarter for the background

⅛ yard each for 1st and 2nd border

¾ yard for 3rd border and binding


  • Sewing machine in good working condition, bring ¼” foot.
  • Basic sewing supplies (scissors, pins, seam ripper, etc)
  • Rotary cutter and ruler. Make sure that one of the rulers you bring has 45° angle markings on it, 3” x 18” or 6” x 12” will work best for cutting out the diamonds. 
  • Pencil or pen
  • 100% cotton thread (we recommend Aurifil)


Pre-cutting directions:

Background: cut 1 – 8 ⅝” square. Cut diagonally twice for 4 triangles.

                       cut 4 – 5 ¾” squares


You will cut the remaining fabrics in class.  

You may arrive as early as 30 minutes before class to get set up and ready to begin.

Please park in the “free parking” lot at the end of downtown on the right.  You may pull up in front of studio to unload, then move vehicle to lot.
