Beginning Applique Class


Beginning Applique Class - June 22nd

Time: 12 - 5pm

Join us and learn the basic skills for needle-turn appliqué! During class you'll learn how to: use a variety of applique tools, make a quilter's knot, execute the needle-turn stitch and hide your treads, appliqué inside and outside points, sharp and gentle curves, and complete reverse appliqué.


  • Non-permanent marking utensil, such as chalk pencils
  • paper scissors (short pair, such as 5-7")
  • small high-quality fabric scissors
  • sandpaper with fine grit or an appliqué board
  • applique needles of choice
  • Clover applique pins
  • Roxanne's fabric glue
  • Portable light
  • cheater or other glasses for close-up work

Fabric & Thread:

  • matching threads for appliqué(we recommend Aurifil 50wt)
  • 15" x 18" outside border (please precut before class)
  • 15" x 18" peek-a-boo oval (please precut before class)
  • 15" x 18" inside oval background (please precut before class)
  • 8 or more 6" squares for hearts to contrast with outside border

(Fat Quarter for backing, binding and batting are not needed for class)

Prewash? Joanne recommends prewashing your fabrics but it is not a requirement.

You may arrive as early as 30 minutes before class to get set up and ready to begin.

Please park in the “free parking” lot at the end of downtown on the right.  You may pull up in front of studio to unload, then move vehicle to lot.
